Do you ever wish that the Bible would say what to do when the doorbell rang? Apparently, the first century church had the same problem. John tells us what to do if anyone comes to us with another doctrine that doesn't teach Jesus came in the flesh. In 2 John 11; tells us not to let them in the house, nor greet them. Wow, we are told that we don't even have to answer the doorbell. He goes on to say that if we do greet them then we are guilty in sharing their teaching.
Let's add a modern day twist to this. Who are you inviting into your house through television? Do they teach that it is all about Jesus or yourself? Do they teach that He came and died for your sin or do they say nothing at all about sin? Do you check what they say against the Word of God? Television has made it possible for someone who we might not answer the doorbell for to sneak into our house. Even if you know what they are saying is false yet, you watch to prove to others where they are wrong, it is going against what John says here. By watching you are giving them ratings which they use to push there agenda even further. I admit that I am guilty to doing this.
It is about Jesus and what He did or it is not worth letting into our house.
