Thought I would share some of my favorite tools for prayer. Back in the high school a friend taught me how to keep a prayer journal. It was a spiral notebook and each page would be one week's worth of prayer request. A week later, I would check off the ones that got answered. Then write down the ones that weren't on the next page for the next week. Then at the top score it like a grade, with the number answered over the number of request. It felt like I was giving God a grade on His performance each week. So I stopped doing that and just wrote them down.
The problem with the notebook is I didn't carry it everywhere. When someone would ask for prayer, many times I would forget by the time I get home. Even if I prayed for the person then I would forget to write them down and to pray about it.
Thank God for smartphones and iPods. I usually have at least one with me at all times. If I don't have my iPad with me I can put the prayer request in my phone. Then when I get home I put it in my prayer app on my iPad. Here is what I use.
I have this on my computer, iPad and phone. I love it because of the versatility of it. Not only do I use it to write down request on my phone, I can jot notes down, blog ideas, list.... I could then get it from my iPad or computer.
I have long been looking for a prayer app like this and am glad that I finally found it. You put down the name of the person and then in the next field what the request is. This is one of my favorite things about the app is that others can't see what you are praying for. You are able to check of the request when answered. Best thing is that it has a timer. So if you have a set time that you can pray set the time and with a gentle ding it lets you know the time is up.
This is my radio app. You can like something and dislike and it adjust to what you like. I have a hymn channel, several different artist channels, classical and Mozart for headaches. Yes there are commercials on the free version. If you don't have a big selection of music to help you to enter into prayer this is one of the pest apps.
This is getting ahead of myself but it is one of the tools I use in prayer sometimes. There are times I don't know what to pray but I know what I need to pray for so I'll look up a verse on what the need is and pray that verse back to God. This is one of my favorite pages to use because of all the tools available on it.
