Several years ago I was challenged to write out my testimony of when I came to Jesus. A long version and a short one. The short version is that I was raised in the church. The pastor's daughter taught my second grade Sunday School class. Basically, she scared me into accepting Jesus. She said that if I were to die before accepting Jesus, I would never see my parents because they would go to Heaven and I wouldn't. I didn't pray then but went home and talked to my mom. She explained what it meant to accept Jesus and then I prayed to accept Jesus.
One of the testimonies of how God has worked in my life since would be when we found the church we are going to now. When we moved to Texas from Arizona we had a hard time finding a church home. Just as my boys were entering their teens it had been a prayer of my heart that they would have a youth group that they could get involved in. The church we were going to was small, over 45 minutes away, and my boys were the youth group. My husband and I knew we needed to find another church and that this was not the church for us. One day after watching the women's study from the church we went to in Arizona, I asked God where do we look for a church. Over my right shoulder I heard a very audible voice telling me to look up a friend of mine that he was going to a church that was right on. I knew my oldest son would be the problem in switching churches. When I told him about this church he told me he would never go to church again. I had already contacted the pastor and youth pastor asking them to pray for my son. They both responded that they were having the very first youth study that Wednesday and the boys were welcome to come. My youngest was excited about it and talked his brother into going. The look on my oldest son when I dropped him off was "My mom made me come and I didn't want to." When my husband and I returned he was a total different child with a huge smile on his face. He couldn't wait to introduce us to the pastor. Now, he is the Creative Arts Intern/Tech Director. When the church moved into it's new building, the pastor was joking that we need to make my son a bedroom there. My youngest is the children's pastor right hand and plans on becoming a children's pastor. My husband and I are a part of the tech team.
