This is one of my favorite parts of the Christmas story. Mary in her finite mind trying to understand an infinite God. For even Sarah and slept with Abraham before Issac was born and she had been with no man and was going to have a baby?!?!?
Gabriel, to prove his point, tells her that her elderly cousin -- Elizabeth, the one that is barren -- is pregnant. Can see Gabriel standing there in front of Mary saying, "Start the Mission Impossible theme." He turns to her and says, "Mary, with God nothing is impossible." Then he starts dancing with the music.
I had one of those impossible moments. I was driving home from a church basketball game. I had a green light and was proceeding through the intersection. The car coming in the other direction decides to turn left just as I entered the intersection and hit me head-on. Immediately I knew my right ankle was broken.
After surgery, the orthopedic told my mom that my ankle was shattered to toothpick size pieces and all he could do was push the pieces together. There was the possibility that I may never walk again.
My mom responded that basically he didn't know my God.
Six weeks later when the cast finally came off, not only was I able to walk, I had no limp. The doctor was surprised. He sent me to physical therapy to strengthen the ankle. While I was there the therapist told me that I was lucky it didn't shatter all the way to the hip.
Click to Tweet: God has proven time and again throughout the Bible that nothing is impossible with Him.
What has He done in your life that might have appeared impossible to you?
