Twice within three verses Paul tells us to armor up. Obviously our enemy is a great threat. As a matter of fact he would do anything to keep us from being effective for the kingdom of God. The other night I was watching a one of the NCIS shows and one of the guest actors on the show said to the main character that she didn't even know who they were fighting anymore since 9/11. His response was, "The bad guy, always the bad guy." At least for them they could see who they were fighting. Our battle is in a different realm and can many times be written off as crazy thinking.
As we look at each piece of armor more closely we will look at some ways our enemy will attack us. Now let's look at who he is. The best way to look at him is to see the way he attacks. By looking back at his first attacks we can learn a lot about his M. O., method of operation.
ISOLATION
Satan sought out Eve when Adam was not right with her. She had no one watching her back at that time. He likes to do that to us today, make us feel like we are in the boat all by ourselves.
TWIST GOD'S WORD
He is so sneaky and cunning that he will twist ever so slightly what God said to make us doubt what we know.
ENTICE US
There are three areas that he uses a lot to entice us with, he not only used them with Eve but also Jesus when he tempted Him. The lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life are his three main areas of attack.
We also knows he is seeking who is weak that he can destroy. He want to steal our, joy, peace and happiness. He loves to play mind games, you know the negative self talk that we let go on in our head.
We have to stand firm with what we know is true, in what God says and dismiss the negative self talk when it comes. Being in prayer is one of our major weapons and yet it is the easiest one for him to take out of our ability to use. That is why we need to have our armor on everyday. Unlike the suit of armor the Knights used, God's armor will not weight us down or get in our way.
