Every now and then you will hear practice random acts of kindness. What is kindness and why do we have to be reminded to do it. Webster 1828 Dictionary defines kindness as :
KINDNESS, n. [from kind, the adjective.]
1. Good will; benevolence; that temper or disposition which delights in contributing to the happiness of others, which is exercised cheerfully in gratifying their wishes, supplying their wants or alleviating their distresses; benignity of nature. Kindness ever accompanies love.
There is no man whose kindness we may not sometime want, or by whose malice we may not sometime suffer.
2. Act of good will; beneficence; any act of benevolence which promotes the happiness or welfare of others. Charity, hospitality, attentions to the wants of others, etc., are deemed acts of kindness, or kindnesses. Acts 28.
This is what made Ruth so special. She didn't look out what was best for her she did what was best for Naomi and put Naomi first. She listened to what Naomi told her to do and followed her instructions. By putting Naomi first over herself she was able to provide enough food for them and Boaz saw the kindness that Ruth was showing to Naomi.
Another thing about kindness when we show God's love to others. It was Ruth's kindness to Naomi that allowed Naomi to see that God had not forgotten her in all that she was going through. It was the kindness that love in action that removed the bitterness that Naomi was wallowing in at first. It is kindness that puts to death our old nature and cause others to see God. It is like a cup of hot chocolate or coffee on a cold morning, warming you up from the inside out. So instead of practicing random acts of kindness make kindness a daily habit.
