We have all been on one side or the other of the, "If I told you once....", speech. The power behind this speech is to warn of danger. Paul says it a little more nicely,
“Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things again is no trouble to me, and it is a safeguard for you." (Philippians 3:1 NASB)
So God sees us as His children and has repeated things through out the Bible for us. Let's look at a few things.
Starting with the next verse Paul repeaters the verse, rejoice. What danger can there be in the word rejoice? Exactly, when we rejoice no matter what is going on it prevents us from getting depressed. It takes the focus off of us and puts it on what God is doing in us. Rejoice is mentioned 240 times in the Bible.
The word fear is mentioned 387 times in the Bible, that is more than a verse a day for a whole year on fear. Out of those verses the break down looks like this:
143 verses - Fear not
97 verses - Do not fear
86 verses - Fear God
The word love is mentioned 442 times in the Bible. In God's economy of words love is more important than fear. We know that love is the end to fear just look at 1 John 4:18.
There are 15 warnings about false prophets, false teachers, and evil workers. This includes the warning in Philippians 3:2.
So when you see something mentioned several times in the Bible take a deeper look into it, because it is for our good that it is repeated.
