We can see the ups and downs of Miriam's life form when she was young and the birth of her brother Moses. The down point when she put him in the river. The upward swing when the princess took him into her home. The higher point when she ran to get her mom for the princess and bringing Moses back home to raise under the protection of the princess.
Then a slight downward swing when they had to give him back to the princess yet they were able to watch him grow from afar. Then that horrible day when Pharoah kicked Moses out of Egypt. Will he survive? Will she see him again?
The joy when Moses returned years later. The marvel that the God of her people found her brother and brought him home. The hope that he is the one to save them from their bondage. The jubilee when they finally got the news that the Pharoah was letting them go. The peace of heart as they left Egypt free no longer slaves.
The panic as they were by the sea and off in the distance the army of Egypt was coming after them. The amazement that when Moses stretched out his hand the sea parted and they walk across to the other side on dry land. But the army was following them still. Wow, God is worthy of praise for He drowned the Egyptian army by letting the sea go back together.
Then jealousy of Moses took hold in her heart. Her discipline was to be stricken with leporsy. No longer was she separated from God because of her sin but also from everyone else. During that time of separation she had a heart change and God allowed her back into fellowship with Him and everyone else by healing her.
As we look at the highs and lows of Miriam's life we can guess where she would feel like God was not close. We all have been there at times feeling like God has dropped us off at the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. Why are we going through this? Does He even care?
As you look over her life you see that He was there all the time with His hand guiding all the way. When she put Moses in the river it was the time that the princess took her bath. When Moses was kicked out of Egypt God need to work on Moses to prepare him to be a leader. When she had leporsy God was purifying her heart so He could use her.
When we are in the times when we feel that God has forgotten about us that is when we need to remember that He is doing something amazing inside of us. This just happens to be one of the hardest things to do.
