Do you ever feel like you have to jump through hoops to get certain people to accept you? Almost like there is a check list of things you have to do to be accepted by them.
Dress a certain way
Do hair just so
Drive a certain type of car
Eat certain things
And the list goes on. I'm sure Job is starting to feel like his friends have this list of what a righteous person should look like. It seems like on the top of their list is that a righteous person would NEVER go through what Job is going through. So because of that he is full of hot air and needs to realize that there is something wrong in his life.
Like Abraham, Job lived before the Law of Moses. It was the Law that pointed out what man was to do and not do. So without the check list of the Law how then did Job and Abarham know how to live? The story of Adam and Eve had been handed down throughout the time. Job knew that God required a sacrifice and made them regularly. He also knew how God wanted those that trusted Him to live as they walked by faith. Both Abraham and Job live out their faith in God.
Likewise, we as Crhistians are called to live out our faith in Christ Jesus. Since Jesus came to fulfill the Law we are now under the new covenant. We have died to our sins and are raised with Him to bring forth fruit for Him. Like Abraham and Job we are called to walk by faith in Jesus. This means as we are in the Biblle daily and in prayer we know Him more and more. BUT what about the requirements of the Law? They are fulfilled as we walk out our live in Christ Jesus, since He has fulfilled the Law.
So in living out our faith in Jesus there is no check list that says we must:
Read X amount of chapters a day
Pray X amount of times a day
Give X amount of money a week
Eat only this kind of food
We are called to be like Christ and not like those that are in the world. So let's walk out our faith in Him that others can see Him in us.
