Knowing the truth will help us make those tough gut decisions that we need to make. It will also help us in dismissing the negative self talk that he so likes to try against us. Jesus said the we will know the truth and that by knowing the truth it will set us free. So how do we put on the belt of truth? In her book, "The 7 Day Prayer Warrior Experience", Stormie Ormartian wrote this about putting the belt of truth:
"That means we must tightly surround ourselves with truth and not allow for anything other than the truth to enter into our thinking or situation. It means asking God to keep us undeceived so that we never allow deception to take root. Knowing the truth liberates us from all possibility of deception and illuminates any darkness in our life." I like what she says that "we must tightly surround ourselves..."
Think about it the belt goes all the way around the body and it is on tightly because it wouldn't do much good if it were loose. Being in the middle of loosing weight I have one belt that really isn't much better than my pants and another that I can tighten so that my pants don't hang down. Bet you can guess which belt I use.
Now what gets me is the one that is really of no good is the one that is cute has personality, where as the other one is something that is practical, it does what it is suppose to do and zero personality. However, like the truth it is not always going to be the popular in thing. Nor will it be what you or others want to hear. It will keep us from being deceived, it will calm the fears and strengthen our convictions.
So where do we find truth? In John 16:13 and 14, we see that, "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. (John 16:13-14 NKJV). Earlier Jesus said this about the truth, “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’” (John 14:6 NKJV)
One thing this study is going to point out over and over is how IMPORTANT it is that we are in the Bible daily. Here we see it is to know the truth. Just Google how many times the word truth is mentioned in the Bible, you will be amazed.
